Awesome Ways to Die - #1

Not much is happening. I got a job at Lincraft but they're being bitches and refusing to organise the part of having a job that involves actually being employed. I've stupidly agreed to go away with my family again over Christmas this year, because I get a paid holiday to Sydney and I'm allowed to catch the train rather than fly. I've also been promised time to myself and not being involved in stressful family bonding activities EVERY SINGLE SECOND OF THE GODDAMN DAY. But they promised that last time too and look how that turned out. Still, if I didn't sign up for these masochistic adventures what else would I fill my memoirs with?

Dad is teaching me to drive. He made me go on the roads on my second lesson and I'm proud to say I only had four panic attacks and only burst into tears once. I am looking to improve these figures on my third lesson when I tackle third gear.

during one my first driving lessons, i ran into my neighbour's parked car and took one of my headlights out. i was so frazzled i didn't even really think twice when dad ordered i back the car down the drive so he could fix it.

i grew up to be a frazzled driver, but that's ok, just get a bigger and scarier car than everyone else on the road and you'll be fine. =)

Hehe! My cousin ran into a pole on her first lesson and she and her dad had to walk home. I'm proud to have not yet caused an accident!

The big/scary car seems to be a common solution... unfortunately, my mum has given me her old Barina. She's upgraded to a Mustang and a truck.

Pfft! Third gear? Who needs third gear when you can do just as well not exceeding 35km/ph? Even my auto seems to adhere to that philosophy!

I didn't even go on proper roads (i drove 'round an empty industrial estate) until i'd had about twenty lessons! and i wasn't even driving a manual!

Haha, I would like to never have to break 20km, personally. Although apparently I go faster than that! Dad was like "slow down to 20 over the speedhump" and I'm like "WE'RE GOING FASTER THAN 20??!!! AAAAHH!" *SLAM BRAKES*

Man manual is so freaking annoying. But I will learn how to do it! I will not let it beat me!

Twenty lessons seems like a lot... aren't you meant to be theoretically ready to get your license after like fifteen lessons? Although I'm sure it will take me twenty before I learn to not stall in the centre of intersections and such.

*SLAM BREAKS!*
Car: *STALLS!*
DAMMIT I CAN'T EVEN BE SCARED OR ANGRY IN THIS GODDAMNED THING!

I have faith in you!

I was forced into having many driving lessons considering I got my L's when I was sixteen and had to be dragged kicking and screaming into the car once a weekend from that point until I got an instructor to teach me manual... And no, you're supposed (although legally, i think you're right) to do 120-150 hours before you get your license so unless you having 10-hour long lessons the TAC does not approve. >:(

The ONE thing I can do is brake without stalling! Although it doesn't make much difference because I can rarely get it moving again. Yay faith!

I know about the 120 thing, after July you have to have a logbook with every hour documented and signed or something. Yet they have no details about how that actually works on the website yet because, hey, it hasn't come into effect yet. Surely no one who wants to get their license AFTER July 1 would possibly start learning BEFORE then. That would be ridiculous! What I meant is that I'm told you're meant to be a fully competent driver after about 10 proper lessons. I find that hard to believe though.

This only proves that manuals are stupid and should be made obselete.

that logbook law teaches us one thing: the government is full of wankers!

You're a good driver!

Will AWTD be a regular thing?

I am not! You're a liar! I was so worried about hitting the wrong lane when I turned a corner that I ended up turning too sharply and driving into a huge pile of sand on the footpath.

But I think it might be, it's fast and fun! Like Fascism!

Drowning in the Sea of Tranquility? I mean it's pretty awesome just to get to the moon, but then to take some water up there to drown yourself with. A for effort!
